2027 ACC Renewal Mentor Coaching

Revisit your coaching through the lens of the experience you have gained
Your coaching has continued to develop since you first earned or last renewed your ACC credential. You have worked with more clients, encountered different situations and developed habits and approaches that may not have been part of your practice when you completed your original coach education.
This program gives you a structured opportunity to look at the coach you have become. Together, we will revisit the ICF Core Competencies, explore the choices you are making in current coaching conversations and identify what you want to strengthen next.

A Complete ACC Renewal Mentor Coaching Program
The program includes the 10 hours of mentor coaching required for ACC credential renewal, completed over a minimum of three months.
Your registration includes:
- Seven hours of live group mentor coaching
- Three individual mentor coaching sessions
- Review and discussion of your coaching
- Written and verbal feedback
- Supporting reflection resources
- Documentation confirming completion of your eligible mentor coaching hours
The time between sessions allows you to apply what you are learning, notice what changes in your coaching and return with new questions and observations.
A Developmental Approach
The group sessions are interactive and grounded in the current coaching practice of the participants. We will connect the language of the competencies to what actually happens in coaching conversations while learning from a range of coaching styles and perspectives.
Your individual sessions provide space to focus more closely on your own development. We will identify demonstrated strengths, recurring patterns and areas that may benefit from further attention.
The goal is not to coach from a checklist or become a different kind of coach. It is to understand your coaching more clearly and make thoughtful choices about what you want to deepen.
Who This Program Is For
This program is designed specifically for coaches renewing an existing ACC credential.
It may be a good fit when you want to complete your required mentor coaching hours while also receiving meaningful feedback on how your coaching has developed.
It is not intended for coaches applying for their first ACC credential or pursuing the PCC credential, as those pathways may involve different observation and documentation requirements.
Current ACC Renewal Requirements
ICF requires ACC coaches to complete 10 hours of mentor coaching as part of the credential renewal process. The hours must be completed over at least three months and include a minimum of three individual hours.
Beginning in 2027, new mentor coaching hours used for ACC renewal must be completed with an appropriately qualified Mentor Coach Specialist. I hold the MCS designations for ACC, PCC and MCC credentials.
You remain responsible for confirming and completing the other requirements that apply to your renewal.

About Cathy Shaughnessy
Cathy Shaughnessy is an ICF Master Certified Coach, active ICF Assessor and Mentor Coach Specialist for ACC, PCC and MCC credential candidates.
She has assessed coaching performance at all three credential levels since 2020 and brings more than 10,000 hours of coaching experience to her work with coaches.
Her approach is calm, practical and developmental. She helps coaches recognize what is already working, understand the choices they are making and decide what they want to strengthen next.
My role is not to turn you into a different kind of coach. It is to help you look closely at the coach you have become and make thoughtful choices about what comes next.
An Important Note About Renewal
Completion of this program provides the eligible mentor coaching hours described above. It does not guarantee approval of an ICF renewal application.
ICF makes all credentialing decisions independently, and participants are responsible for meeting the remaining requirements and submitting their renewal applications.
