The launch of the new ICF Competencies in ICF Performance Assessments is coming soon, and it’s the last call for the March/April Group Mentor Coaching program!
I’ve been using much of this indoor time during our stay-at-home order to refresh many of my coaching tools in preparation for the shift to the new ICF Competencies.
Here’s a link to an ICF Competencies Reminder Tool that I’ve made so I can start committing these new competencies to memory. You can print it, cut it out and pin it to your bulletin board!
I’ve also been preparing for the next Mentor Coaching Group, which will be based on how to recognize and integrate these new competencies into your work as a coach.
If you are looking for opportunities to gather CCE units before the end of the year, you can earn 10 CCE’s in the Core Competency (CC) category with mentor coaching. And you can get a jump-start on the new competencies too!
If you’re not quite sure how mentor coaching fits into your skill development as a coach, you can find lots of information on the ICF official website. Here is a quick look at how mentor coaching is defined by the International Coaching Federation:
Mentor Coaching for an ICF Credential consists of coaching and feedback in a collaborative, appreciative and dialogued process based on an observed or recorded coaching session to increase the coach’s capability in coaching, in alignment with the ICF Core Competencies.
Mentoring provides professional assistance in achieving and demonstrating the levels of coaching competency and capability demanded by the desired credential level.
Mentor Coaching should take place over an extended time (three-month minimum) in a cycle that allows for listening and feedback from the Mentor Coach while also allowing reflection and practice on the part of the individual being mentored.
If you have been thinking about moving forward with ICF Credentials, or you need to complete 10 hours of mentor coaching to renew your credential by the end of the year, this group is the right one for you!
