When I first started out, there weren’t a lot of tools or resources available to help coaches build their skills.
I had to do a lot of digging and sleuthing to cobble together a development plan that would take me from newly minted, to ICF Master Certified Coach.
It took time. Tons and tons of time.
I read all of the books, articles, white papers, blogs, newsletters, and posts I could find. I asked other coaches for their insights, recommendations, and ideas. I made hundreds of connections with super-smart people along the way. I filled notebooks, scribbled sticky notes and dried out plenty of highlighters.
I was on a mission, and I would not be deterred. It looked like this. Learn. Get better. Learn some more. Stumble. Fall. Make a few mistakes. Get worse. Step up. Learn again. I’m still on that mission, by the way.
I don’t think I’ll ever quite arrive at a destination called No More To Learn. At least I hope I won’t and I hope you won’t either.
Recently, I was invited to speak at an International Coach Federation Chapter event. I had been asked to share my journey to MCC. In crafting that presentation, I realized that over the years, bit by bit, little by little, I had filled up my coaching tool box with resources that I had either created myself or often used in my work.
I discovered during the presentation that other coaches were eager to know more about them.
In the spirit of collegiality, I have been making these tools and resources available to other coaches so they can fill up their coaching tool boxes too.
