Last month, the ICF made some changes to the coach credentialing process that will make it a wee bit easier for you to get moving on your credential application or renewal.
Since this is my MCC renewal year, I wanted to test-drive the new ICF credentialing system, so I could let you know what to expect.
I am happy to report that the ICF has delivered on their promise! It was easier. Yay!
Here are the highlights:
Essentially, the change involves the launch of a new application platform, which took place on May 16. The primary purpose of the shift is to make the ICF Credentialing application and renewal process easier for coaches.
This is an important area of focus for the ICF, which delivers a top-notch and extremely respected credentialing program for professional coaches globally.
Attention will continue to be placed on the high standards for ethical and professional practice that inform the rigorous requirements for each credential level.
This new platform is aimed at simplifying credentialing. While using the platform to initiate my renewal application, it was definitely clearer, simpler and easier to navigate.
If your renewal comes due on December 31st this year, or if you are applying for a new credential, you will be using the new platform.
Now, you will be able to:
Initiate and access a credential or renewal application through your own profile on the ICF website. This means that rather than digging around for the web page that the application is on, you simply open it in your profile.
Complete an ICF Membership or Member Profile as a part of the credentialing process if you do not currently have one. This means you won’t have to leave the application to make your profile.
Add information to your application over time, instead of all at once. This means that you can input CCEs as you earn them. This is a big time saver for me. I won’t have to spend a lot of time organizing and locating three years of certificates and records at the last minute.
Monitor your application review status in real time. No more waiting and wondering about where your application is in the system.
You’ll also want to keep in mind this update from last year if you are renewing this year:
- 10 hours of mentor coaching can now be applied toward the 40 hours of Continuing Coach Education that are required for renewal.
As was always the case, mentor coaching must take place over a period of longer than 3 months. This is especially important for renewals. Since all renewals are due on December 31st of each year, your mentor coaching should be started before October 1st or you will not be outside the 3-month required window.
So, if you’ve been putting off getting your application or renewal started, wait no more. You can get that ball rolling today! Yes, you can 😉
Oh, and if you need mentor coaching this year, my next group starts on September 10th. You’ll be able to fit it in before the renewal deadline.
You can find dates and details here.
And, of course, I am happy to answer any questions that you might have about your credentialing journey. Be sure to reach out!
Cheering you on as always 😉
